Tableau Mobile

I have been awaiting the Tableau platform to ready itself onto the mobile platform for quite some time This was worth the wait As expected I was connected to Tableau Server within seconds and not viewing But interacting with my Web Analytics email social media and other online data exported by MashableMetrics Again great job Tableau team              Worth the wait mobile BI is here

Tableau desktop is a great product but this iPad app is a disgrace The UI controls are not native iOS controls The app is not responsive I deleted after 5 minutes of use     No retina support not a real iPad app

I have to agree with the other review Tableau reader on the pc is tremendously useful Im disappointed I cant do the same thing on the iPad I hope I can soon     Need tableau reader for iPad

I use this product every day and I look forward to all the new updates to come As a data miner myself having this tool at the tip of my fingers allows such flexibility to my schedule Great work                 LOVE IT

Buggy app and caused a real drag on my user experience My users have to reinstall app every time content is updated and the app keeps crashing Never had issues with the previous version           Buggy

This bi app seems to be slowly maturing but still has a ways to go The visualizations are nice and gestures fairly intuitive My largest complaint from previous versions still remains though When you click on some places in the app it redirects you out to the browser This creates a very fragmented user experience At the very least youd think this could be an inapp browser window Also the design environment offers very limited capabilities around custom design        Nice start still a fragmented experience

I am a daily user of this tableau iOS app and have few things to say about it This app is like a support feature for the server users who need to access their workbooks over the air frequently Without the server license this app doesnt do any good except playing with the samples However there are also good things that server users will benefit from this app 1 The new mobile authoring feature that enables the user to edit the workbook within the app is the killer feature that everyone was waiting 2 Downloading the view by image PDF data or crosstab and sharing the view by either email or embedded works great 3 The rendering speed has improved from 9 seconds to 5 seconds the view with over 10000 rows of data Unfortunately the app still does not support the offline with the twb or twbx files and mobile authoring does not allow editing the dashboard Adding these two features will complete this app                 Almost there

Hurry     Need reader for iPad

If the workbook you are using loads fast then it works fine However if the filters take a few seconds to load and the user tries to make a selection again it will throw an error Not a good app for impatient users        Good for the most part

Why cant I open workbook files from an email or Dropbox like with the desktop reader client That is silly and severely limits the usefulness of this app     No outside files

I enjoy using the Windows desktop version of Tableau Public and thought this might be the same Given that this app runs on iPad I figured I could connect to a data sheet I saved in Google Docs or SkyDrive but alas that is not the case This app is just a remote access agent to a Tableau Enterprise Server If you dont have that then this app serves no purpose        Sadly Not Useful to Me

Poor execution on the iPad It is not native and doesnt follow iOS user interface rather the desktop Seems like a not very well thought out port of software     Gap solution crashes

You need to have access to Tableau server I downloaded this thinking it would be like any pdf reader As powerful as the software desktop is I find it extremely limited that you cannot openshare a book you have created outside of your laptop For all its very smart use of technology to create data visualization their concept of how that data is later shared is circa 1980 more than 2020     Very limited use

Will not show certain workbooks and projects unless you log out then log back in again Unable to favorite certain items Very buggy     Buggy worse than the previous version

Like using this with Tableau Online So useful when Im on the go                 So useful with Tableau Online

Ive tried many BI mobile clients but this one is the most natural and elegant I will actually use this in my daily work as a primary tool                 Finally interactive mobile BI

Ive just downloaded the this new application and played with the sample files Just spent my first few minutes playing with the samples provided I love it                 A new world for Tableau Software

Probably awesome with Server but I only have the desktop version                 Wish it could be used with the desktop license

App crashes constantly update to new version 9 is equally buggy The login fails sometimes and one needs to delete app and reinstall to fix issue Dont waste your time installing this Use web access instead     Constant crashes make this app useless

As this is a personal device we should be able to remember passwords at the very least rather than having to enter them each time This poor practice encourages people to use weak passwords Ideally it should be integrated to TouchID or 1Password Shame as its quite a decent product        Annoying to constantly have to enter passwords

I am amazed I just gave my boss the same dashboard on his iPad that he was using on a browser before and I didnt have to change or do anything it just worked Typical Tableau The iPad 2 users have better performance than my users with with ones but seems true with everything                 Touch dashboard without any extra work

Only supports their incredibly expensive server version We paid and license the desktop version and only a hand full of us need to get reports but we cant in the field because you cant open the files on an iPad Boo     Only server version booing

The demos are gorgeous however youre basically just browsing someone elses creation Really doesnt have much ability to change things slice and dice beyond what the developer had in mind        Beauty is skin deep

I am a Tableau desktop user I was hoping that this app would justify my companys investment in Tableau Server but I am thus far unimpressed As far as the UI is concerned they have done a pretty good job Two things however killed it for me 1 They go to all the trouble of allowing me to select and view a set of data but dont allow me to share it with anyone An email feature or an export to Dropbox Numbers Pages etc would be excellent I need to be able to collaborate 2 Prohibitively slow I and many of the execs and sales reps in my company are running iPad 1s maybe the 2 is better and the visualizations all take a VERY long time to load and an even longer time to filter manipulate etc If I dont have the patience for the data to load I know for a fact that other users in my company wont While I still think this has great potential Ill be waiting to see improvements in the next iteration I have faith that the Tableau team can deliver but this is not it        Long way to go
