Like everyone else here I love the show but I really hate this app The old version certainly wasnt perfect but at least it worked This app used to be the only thing that made my commute bearableand now its ruined It takes forever to respond to commands like play or pause forward or rewind Sometimes it just doesnt respond at all All the episodes I marked as heard are now no longer marked as such Its no longer possible to pause your listening quit the app and pick up where you left off I really hope the devs are seeing these reviews What could have possessed them to release this shoddy upgrade Apparently TAL cant seem to find someone who knows how to write an app that works The same headbangingly frustrating problems exist after purported bug fixes in the latest update But now theres an added bonus Now some of the episodes wont play at all You tap Play and nothing happens Same thing when you tap Downloadnothing nada zip Its just so AWESOME I would love to hear Ira address this problem on the show He owes an apology to his listeners Except of course wed never be able to hear it unless we caught it on the radio     Wish I could downgrade

One of the many podcasts keeping me sane while I stay at home with two young kids                 I could be crazy

Since the last update I cannot delete old downloaded episodes When I try it pops up an error box telling me to delete episodes before downloading new ones Helpful     New problem

I love the show but I hate the app The former version of the app was much better This app is glitchy consistently crashes often fails to download episodes and makes it hard to find old episodes        Great show Bad App

Best radio show ever App gives you access to the entire archive                 Amazing

I love this American life But lately I havent been having access to new episodes I go through the entire app looking for the episodes and cant find them I cant even find the archive of previous episodes I never had this problem before Some one please let me know whats going one           Used to be great

Love the show I usually use the Podcast app to listen to it If I need something from their online presence I use the website This app feels like they decided they needed to have an app but were too focused on launching Serial to put much effort into it So be it The show was fantastic           App nowhere near as good as the show

The app which costs money is extremely buggy and needs a lot of work For instance you can only have 5 shows downloaded at a time which is reasonable but I currently have 5 shows downloaded and when I try to delete them after listening to them it tells me that I can only have 5 shows downloaded at once and that I would need to remove one to download others This of course is a problem because I cant actually delete any of my already downloaded podcasts Another issue is that not a single podcast will show up on the All Shows tab Those two things are apart of many problems with this app The show is magnificent and I listen every week and a lot of the time go back and listen to old shows again I am just sad that the app does not work very well and I hope that it is fixed soon so my listening can continue        I LOVE This American Life but

If you havent downloaded this application then youre truly missing out on some great entertainment                 Excellent

The app is really wonderful 10 years of incredible shows at your fingertips with local storage for five shows at a time I use this app constantly on long trips and for listening around the house The episodes themselves are fantastic I havent heard a single one yet that I didnt love Its no wonder so many people tune in each week its always thoughtful interesting clever and funny too You cant go wrong getting this app                 Awesome programming

Easy to turn on this American life and still be able to concentrate on your recipe Ive never had any crashing issues and last night it played continuously for two hours Content always fascinating A good episode is Pen Pals if you are looking for a wow story                 Listen while you cook

Simply if youre unfamiliar with This American Life do yourself a favor and listen If you dont fancy This American Life Im sorry Youre missing out what a treasure                 Second to none

Love the show but the app has glitches Youre limited to downloading 5 episodes at a time to playback without wificell data Not a problem However the app glitches out and somehow you cant play the downloaded episodes later Then the real kicker is that you cant delete these downloaded episodes to try to get new ones What So you uninstall the app lose all your data like favs and heard episodes the app works for a bit and the whole problem starts all over again When it does work limited time its a good app but when it doesnt work its terrible Again LOVE the show strongly dislike the app        Great radio program but APP needs work

I love to have a companion during my hour long commute TAL App fills that need                 Awesome

I am so thankful that the app exists in the first place Being able to listen years of TAL episodes is amazing After the initial redesign of the app there were lots of problems bugs But most of those have been worked out the app is great now                 Nearly bug free

While the older version was clunky it worked Now the live stream stops when my screen locks and things are harder to find The 247 stream seems to be temperamental on this app as well as the Tune In stream Fix it quickly please The error message and or stream stops are a huge dissatisfier     Hate this release

Frustrated and relieved to see others having the same problems with this expensive app Cant play an episode Cant delete an episode Basically cant use the app tried contacting them twice through the Feedback feature in the app only to get crickets for a reply Tried tweeting Fingers crossed Love TALfrom what I can remember     Ugh

In depth stories about people from every walk of life So well written that the most common story is interesting and attention keeping                 Thoughtful stories

I use the app sporadically but it works well for me when I do But the content is what its all about                 Best show ever

As a was a wee one I remember listening to This American Life while driving to see my grandparents It made the hour commute a delight Now as an adult one of the special joys in my life is being able to peruse through the entire library of episodes and listen whenever and wherever I find myself The kinks have largely been worked out of the software and for that I am grateful Thanks TAL You make my heart smile                 My first review everthats gotta mean something

awesome content variety but this app is so buggy since the last update it will only ever show me episodes available offline even when connected to wifi so frustrating i only have access to 5 random episodes at a time because nothing is available offline in order to listen to things i have to search random words or use the livestream thuuuuumbs down i wish i could downgrade this app to when i first got it     awesome in theory

I dont know how many times I have to complain about the same problem before someone fixes it Yet again the app will not let me delete downloaded episodes It thinks Im adding an episode when I try I submitted a complaint through the app itself multiple times but nothing has been fixed For the umpteenth time PLEASE FIX THE APP This exact same issue keeps occurring     App Broken AGAIN

The design of this app is not user friendly at all Its very difficult to navigate all of the years and episodes because the timeline is so tiny and links dont work the majority of the time Love the show but really surprised that TAL has such a clunky interface Im going back to listening and browsing on iTunes        Frustrating Interface

First off I would like to say that I am rating this app not the show Says the upgrade from the last version I have barely been able to listen to the program on my phone Please fix this app its a terrible shame to have such a great show he represented by such a terrible app     Fix the app please

Im having the same issues as other listeners with the downloaded shows cant delete current downloads wont let me download more as well as playback sometimes it just wont play Im hoping for an update I love having these shows available           Love the show app has a few problems

Update after downloading onto new phoneSO unhappy the app no longer has my heard and favorite data This is the first time it has happened Always kept my info phone to phone and after past updates Too cumbersome trying to guess what old episodes I havent heard while trying to concentrate on driving A shame a paid app is this quirky The content of the app is of course worth every penny I paid for it The 1 star comes from how unstable it has become at least with iOS 8 not sure if or how much it crashed before that It crashes with every use sometimes more than once Also needs some sort of user settings While Im driving I dont want to have to tell it to show me unheard I want that as my default No improvement since my last rating     Crashing fest

Seems a little glitchy but has made commuting more tolerable           Good app

I love it It makes long drives much more bearable Its glitchy at times but nothing reinstalling doesnt fix Its not worth complaining about when you consider the sheer amount of content available FOR FREE Before anyone complains just remember how NPR provides all of this to us for free lets appreciate the effort the go through for us the listener                 Endless Entertainment
